(This is just a pic of the player.) I know I said I’d take a listen to “The Captain and His Ship”, but I also want to comment on their tune “What Have I Found.”
I like “The Captain and His Ship”. I’ve heard it a couple of times now, and it’s actually a got a good hook in it. I can’t quite pin down what music it reminds me of from my past, though. That’s not to say it’s new and fresh, but sometimes, there’s a quality in new or older music that takes me back to a certain time in my life, a phase, or even a moment. And this song does that for me. It also reminds me of when I used to go home during my time at university and visit local bands. I loved the vibe, no pretention, no airs, just really good music. It was unaffected music, too. That’s what this song does for me.
The other song of Lonely Hunter’s I listened to is called “What Have I Found.” It’s beyond special in terms of the lyrics and the music. It’s ethereal, liquid emotion wrapped up in musical notes and voice. It’s a beautiful song with a heavy yet genuine “content with ‘the One'” message. Yes, that might be a bit contradictory, but I while I found the lyrics hopeful, the entire song has a heaviness of meaning. It’s such a beautifully written song, too, and Collin Brewer, the lead singer, has a great voice, especially for this type of song.
